Update Barbara Akerson has agreed to be our retreat speaker. She also has agreed to do some one-on-one sessions after her workshop for a discounted price of $20 for a half hour of consulting (how to balance your life, nutrition, find your creativity, etc.). See her bio at the end of the page.
Join us for the 2nd CTRWA Writers Retreat at the Guest House in Chester, CT, June 28-30. Enjoy delicious food and fabulous company while you crank out your next novel in this historic yet comfortable setting. Last year some members were able to write 5,000 or more words while on the retreat–How many will you write? Don’t forget, we’ll also have a speaker on Saturday afternoon and a spot of fun in the evening, because everyone needs a break. Like last year, we will also feature a mandatory critique group on Friday night to help hone your writing skills. What are you waiting for?
There are single, double, and triple rooms available. Prices break down as follows (per person, per night). We ask that you make roommate arrangements before making your reservation:
Single: $185/night
Double: $139/night
Triple: $121/night
Commuter: $64/day
NOTE: For those reserving rooms, there is a two night minimum, so your cost will be double. (E.g., $370 spent for a single.)
Please see pg. 5 of the October 2012 newsletter to see a glimpse of some of the work and play that happened last year at the Guest House.

Bio from Barbara:
I am a Certified Health Coach and Certified Reiki Master. I decided to become a health counselor to fulfill my passion to helping clients discover their potential for a healthy and satisfied life.
I received my Health Coach training at the Institute For Integrative Nutrition in New York City and I have been practicing Reiki for more than 10 years.
Combining Health Coaching with Reiki provides a deeper healing experience that is co-designed individually and can be life changing. My focus is a blend of energy bodywork, guided meditation and lifestyle modifications catered to the individual client.
I believe that eating food that is nutritious and food that you enjoy is paramount to maintaining a healthy body. I also teach that the shape and well-being of our inner environment are significant to overall health and happiness. If we don’t feed our spiritual and emotional bodies our physical body develops stagnation in all aspects of living. To expand our natural creativity and talents we have to address these functional aspects of our existence. As we begin to heal these fractured parts you will notice lightness to your spirit, your steps will be more alive, your skin will even become more vibrant and your thoughts will begin to recharge. We need physical and emotional sustenance to have a complete, healthy, happy life and relationships.
